My DVD automatically displays English subtitles as the default setting. This happens every time we play it. I got it for my niece who's 4, and she always has to ask someone to reset it to display no subtitles. ( She otherwise can just hit the play button to start a DVD.) I was NOT happy with that. This info should have been stated on this website. I would never have bought it if I knew this. Poorly made cartoon, although my niece still watches it because she likes Stuart.

Set in Haiti during the reign of Baby Doc Duvalier, Laurent Cantet's (the unusual, quietly persuasive "Time Out")"Heading South" ("Vers le Sud") is an erotic fairy-tale in many ways: the "noble," pliant natives in the person of Legba (the excellent Menothy Cesar), rich bored white women looking for a summer vacation of good times, hot beaches, cool drinks and hot sex.
The story features three such women: the mercurial, experienced at the hows and whys of Haiti and its beach boys Ellen (Charlotte Rampling), the basically depressed and debauched Brenda (Karen Young) and the wise, knows the scoop, been there, done that and wants to do it again French Canadian, Sue (Louise Portal). All three have been to Haiti previously and all, for better or worse, are back as this film begins.
Without a doubt the center of Ellen and Brenda's attention is the charismatic Legba: coal black, wide smile, welcoming, willing and emotionally and physically available at all times for both of them...a neat trick as its hard enough to keep one woman happy, but two? But human beings being human beings things go awry pretty quickly.
On the surface it would seem that Legba is being manipulated and used but on closer inspection it is Legba who holds all the cards and he deals them as he sees fit. Legba is in charge and it is Ellen and Brenda who willingly do his bidding. And Menothy Cesar's Legba is more that up to all this attention and scrutiny: his Legba is wise, intelligent, thoughtful, loving, family oriented...not just a piece of meat, in other words, not available to the highest bidder.
The young, virile Haitians are the prizes in Cantet's heady, jasmine scented, tropical world and they use their youthful potency and attractiveness as the currency that will translate into a one-way ticket to a life out of their everyday poverty and squalor.
Customer Review: Exploitation turned into chick flick
A film about bourgoise aging Europeans using their wealth and power to have sex with semi-literate, uneducated poverty stricken third world locals? Surely a lengthy diatrabe against the sex tourism industry and a call to arms for the strengthing of the law against such evil predators? No, this film glosses over any issues of exploitation and abuse and tries in fact to be more of a romantic chick flick. Then surely this film must have caused howls of outrage upon release, pickets outside of cinemas etc? No, calm down everybody, this is the story of 3 aging white women who go to Haiti to take advantage of the bodies of poverty stricken, uneducated third world black men, and hence its perfectly fine, in fact a touching portrayal of the angst ridden lonely white middle-aged Europen female, who are tragically discovering that all the best black bodies in Europe are having sex with the younger, fitter white girls.

Customer Review: Absolutely terrible!
I love horror movies and really like the director's film VALENTINE, so I was hoping this would be a better than average scarefest. The fact that this boring, stupid, time-waster got any good reviews is the only frightening thing about this video. The two main characters are so consistently stupid that I had a hard time watching this to it's lackluster conclusion. The killers are straight out of some crappy TV cop show. Maybe I'm just out of step with what people find creepy, I actually liked SAW 4 and hated Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN. If you want to see a good film, leave this moldering on the shelf and rent THE SEVENTH CURSE or EBOLA SYNDROME instead.
Customer Review: Formulaic, but the acting and visuals are on point.
Storm Warning is a Dimension 'Extreme' title. I'm not sure (yet) what the extreme part means, it seems pretty formulaic from the cover and description.
So, I'm 35 minutes in and..............nothing. A yuppyish couple is lost at sea after being carried by the tide on a fishing trip. They find themselves trapped by some local yokels with a penchant for drinking cheap booze and brandishing knives and sawed offs. K....
At first, our protagonists simply ask the men for help, but they soon realize they are part of some type of twisted game.
FINALLY.. 45 minutes in, the couple escapes the house, they discover a dead body and a shotgun wielding nutcase and business starts to pick up.
I'll pause for a minute to say that at least this looks good, visually. No DV c... to suffer through, this is an actual (gasp) movie in terms of film quality. I will also say that the actors are doing a good job conveying emotions and, in general, playing their roles. The yokels are especially entertaining and unpredictable. So while the lack of action is kind of annoying.. it's good annoying. Maybe I'm expecting something from this that it's not.
From 45 mins in, tings starts to pick up in a serious fashion. Our male lead begins 'fighting back' and gets the business end of a shotgun to the face (a few times) and legs, rendering him .. for the time being.. useless. Our numero uno nutcase shows up and the focus comes fully upon our leading lady.
Then all of the sudden.. lag. Nothing. I'm not certain if this is to build suspense or what? Our lady tends to her fallen fellow and begins messing with stuff (setting traps, presumably) in the shed they are confined to. Whatever she's doing, it's prolonging my increasing boredom with this movie.
But wait! Whoa! Ol' girl sets up a dope booby (ta-doomp psssh) trap and snags the dumber of the hostage-holding duo via some fish hooks to the face and a cranium full of hammer. With some rage. You go girl!
The number two cat comes looking for his brother (who's from another mother..fittingly) and I'll leave the recap at that, as the movie's almost through.
Thoughts?
Visually the film is good compared to what I have become accustomed to (mostly DV and grainy film). The acting *is* good and the (little) gore is well done. Every character is proper visually and skills-wise, and the female lead is quite the looker.
My main problems with this is that it is purely one-dimensional. In other words, it's incredibly boring.
This fails to build sustainable suspense until the last 10 minutes of the movie and even at that point, it's predictable. I'm not sure why this received so much praise on IMDB and Amazon. It's a decent looking movie and the acting, admittedly, is good.. however the terrible pacing and prolonged period of absolutely nothing significant happening seriously hampers the movie.

Customer Review: Poor use of money and plastic Better Choices Available
This product is no different than a regular 24 hour timer. In fact it is substandard and here is why.
This timer has 7 days around the perimeter.
But every few hours the timer turns on and then turns off after 3 hours. This is repeated EXACTLY every day.
So it's really no different than a 24 hour timer. Except that you can NOT set
the on and off times. They are preset.
I really am unhappy with Timex that they would foist a very
crippled timer on their customers.
Let me explain further if you don't happen to understand.
If you had a standard 24 hour timer you could set it to come on and go off at the
times that you preset. And then around and around it would go one time per day.
Turning on and off as you had preset it.
This product would go around only one time in 7 days. However it is pre programmed.
And that means that Timex has decided when it will go on and off. And to make it
worse. They have decided that at 6am every day it will go on for 3 hours and then
go off. Then at 6pm it goes on for 6 hours then goes off at midnight.
It can not be used for any intelligent programming because it's not settable. AND
a smart burgler who watched the house for more than one day would realize that
the light went on at the same time every day. Even though it's a 7 day timer!
Very substandard and a foolish purchase. I'm not happy.

Set in Haiti during the reign of Baby Doc Duvalier, Laurent Cantet's (the unusual, quietly persuasive "Time Out")"Heading South" ("Vers le Sud") is an erotic fairy-tale in many ways: the "noble," pliant natives in the person of Legba (the excellent Menothy Cesar), rich bored white women looking for a summer vacation of good times, hot beaches, cool drinks and hot sex.
The story features three such women: the mercurial, experienced at the hows and whys of Haiti and its beach boys Ellen (Charlotte Rampling), the basically depressed and debauched Brenda (Karen Young) and the wise, knows the scoop, been there, done that and wants to do it again French Canadian, Sue (Louise Portal). All three have been to Haiti previously and all, for better or worse, are back as this film begins.
Without a doubt the center of Ellen and Brenda's attention is the charismatic Legba: coal black, wide smile, welcoming, willing and emotionally and physically available at all times for both of them...a neat trick as its hard enough to keep one woman happy, but two? But human beings being human beings things go awry pretty quickly.
On the surface it would seem that Legba is being manipulated and used but on closer inspection it is Legba who holds all the cards and he deals them as he sees fit. Legba is in charge and it is Ellen and Brenda who willingly do his bidding. And Menothy Cesar's Legba is more that up to all this attention and scrutiny: his Legba is wise, intelligent, thoughtful, loving, family oriented...not just a piece of meat, in other words, not available to the highest bidder.
The young, virile Haitians are the prizes in Cantet's heady, jasmine scented, tropical world and they use their youthful potency and attractiveness as the currency that will translate into a one-way ticket to a life out of their everyday poverty and squalor.
Customer Review: Exploitation turned into chick flick
A film about bourgoise aging Europeans using their wealth and power to have sex with semi-literate, uneducated poverty stricken third world locals? Surely a lengthy diatrabe against the sex tourism industry and a call to arms for the strengthing of the law against such evil predators? No, this film glosses over any issues of exploitation and abuse and tries in fact to be more of a romantic chick flick. Then surely this film must have caused howls of outrage upon release, pickets outside of cinemas etc? No, calm down everybody, this is the story of 3 aging white women who go to Haiti to take advantage of the bodies of poverty stricken, uneducated third world black men, and hence its perfectly fine, in fact a touching portrayal of the angst ridden lonely white middle-aged Europen female, who are tragically discovering that all the best black bodies in Europe are having sex with the younger, fitter white girls.

Customer Review: Absolutely terrible!
I love horror movies and really like the director's film VALENTINE, so I was hoping this would be a better than average scarefest. The fact that this boring, stupid, time-waster got any good reviews is the only frightening thing about this video. The two main characters are so consistently stupid that I had a hard time watching this to it's lackluster conclusion. The killers are straight out of some crappy TV cop show. Maybe I'm just out of step with what people find creepy, I actually liked SAW 4 and hated Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN. If you want to see a good film, leave this moldering on the shelf and rent THE SEVENTH CURSE or EBOLA SYNDROME instead.
Customer Review: Formulaic, but the acting and visuals are on point.
Storm Warning is a Dimension 'Extreme' title. I'm not sure (yet) what the extreme part means, it seems pretty formulaic from the cover and description.
So, I'm 35 minutes in and..............nothing. A yuppyish couple is lost at sea after being carried by the tide on a fishing trip. They find themselves trapped by some local yokels with a penchant for drinking cheap booze and brandishing knives and sawed offs. K....
At first, our protagonists simply ask the men for help, but they soon realize they are part of some type of twisted game.
FINALLY.. 45 minutes in, the couple escapes the house, they discover a dead body and a shotgun wielding nutcase and business starts to pick up.
I'll pause for a minute to say that at least this looks good, visually. No DV c... to suffer through, this is an actual (gasp) movie in terms of film quality. I will also say that the actors are doing a good job conveying emotions and, in general, playing their roles. The yokels are especially entertaining and unpredictable. So while the lack of action is kind of annoying.. it's good annoying. Maybe I'm expecting something from this that it's not.
From 45 mins in, tings starts to pick up in a serious fashion. Our male lead begins 'fighting back' and gets the business end of a shotgun to the face (a few times) and legs, rendering him .. for the time being.. useless. Our numero uno nutcase shows up and the focus comes fully upon our leading lady.
Then all of the sudden.. lag. Nothing. I'm not certain if this is to build suspense or what? Our lady tends to her fallen fellow and begins messing with stuff (setting traps, presumably) in the shed they are confined to. Whatever she's doing, it's prolonging my increasing boredom with this movie.
But wait! Whoa! Ol' girl sets up a dope booby (ta-doomp psssh) trap and snags the dumber of the hostage-holding duo via some fish hooks to the face and a cranium full of hammer. With some rage. You go girl!
The number two cat comes looking for his brother (who's from another mother..fittingly) and I'll leave the recap at that, as the movie's almost through.
Thoughts?
Visually the film is good compared to what I have become accustomed to (mostly DV and grainy film). The acting *is* good and the (little) gore is well done. Every character is proper visually and skills-wise, and the female lead is quite the looker.
My main problems with this is that it is purely one-dimensional. In other words, it's incredibly boring.
This fails to build sustainable suspense until the last 10 minutes of the movie and even at that point, it's predictable. I'm not sure why this received so much praise on IMDB and Amazon. It's a decent looking movie and the acting, admittedly, is good.. however the terrible pacing and prolonged period of absolutely nothing significant happening seriously hampers the movie.

Customer Review: Poor use of money and plastic Better Choices Available
This product is no different than a regular 24 hour timer. In fact it is substandard and here is why.
This timer has 7 days around the perimeter.
But every few hours the timer turns on and then turns off after 3 hours. This is repeated EXACTLY every day.
So it's really no different than a 24 hour timer. Except that you can NOT set
the on and off times. They are preset.
I really am unhappy with Timex that they would foist a very
crippled timer on their customers.
Let me explain further if you don't happen to understand.
If you had a standard 24 hour timer you could set it to come on and go off at the
times that you preset. And then around and around it would go one time per day.
Turning on and off as you had preset it.
This product would go around only one time in 7 days. However it is pre programmed.
And that means that Timex has decided when it will go on and off. And to make it
worse. They have decided that at 6am every day it will go on for 3 hours and then
go off. Then at 6pm it goes on for 6 hours then goes off at midnight.
It can not be used for any intelligent programming because it's not settable. AND
a smart burgler who watched the house for more than one day would realize that
the light went on at the same time every day. Even though it's a 7 day timer!
Very substandard and a foolish purchase. I'm not happy.

I remember watching The Brave Little Toaster when I was little, and wow! Does this bring back so many memories. I adore this movie, and everybody I know who has seen it adores it as well. From the animation and quality of the movie, you'd never guess it was made in the mid-80s. Plus, it got to my apartment really fast - about three/five days after I ordered it.
